

India and Bangladesh visit of T.R. President Mr. Abdullah Gül and Turkish Businessmen Delegation
Our President Mr. Abdullah Gül paid an official visit to India and Bangladesh during February 07–13, 2010. A delegation of Turkish Businessmen, formed under the organization of TOBB / DEIK and with the participation of 80 businessmen, who are active and plan to conduct businesses in the said countries, accompanied our President Gül during this visit, covering the cities of New Delhi, Mumbai, Agra and Dakka.

Erdem Holding Board Chairman Dr. Zeynel Abidin Erdem assumed an active role in the Turkish delegation as the Member of the Board of Directors and Executive Board of DEIK (Foreign Economic Relations Board).
On the morning of February 7, the officials departed from Istanbul to New Delhi, the capital city of India. On the evening of February 7, our President. Gül held a meeting with Turkish Businessmen in the delegation, who are currently operating businesses in India, in order to exchange ideas.
On the day of February 8, a briefing titled “Doing Business with India: Opportunities and Problems” was organized for Turkish businessmen, in which T.R. Commercial Counsellor to New Delhi, Mr. Ziya Demirdüzen, India Representative of Investment Agency Mr. Ravi Chaudhry, the Chairman of Turkish-Indian Business Council Mr. Cefi J. Kamhi and the Director of Special Economic Zone (SEZ) affiliated to Indian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Mr. T. Srinidhi attended as speakers, and then Round Table Meetings were held directed towards Tourism, Construction-Infrastructure-Contracting- Road Construction-Transportation industries, with the participation of industry representatives, specialist institutions and public-ministry officers.

On the day of February 9, a Turkish-Indian Business Forum was held under the coordination of DEİK and CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) and with the partnership of FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) and ASSOCHAM (The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India). During the first part of the Forum, general and specific speeches and presentations were made about the investment opportunities in Turkey and about Banking&Textile industries. During the second part of the Forum, which was held with the participation of our President Gül , a very successful meeting was realized with the participation of institutions representing the business world as well as ministers; and bilateral business meetings were held on industry basis. After the meeting, a partnership agreement was signed between Turkish company Termikel and Indian company Gloabtel Convergence.
On the day of February 10, the delegation accompanied by our President Gül visited Taj Mahal, and on the same day, the officials headed for Mumbai, which is the biggest city of India.

On the day of February 11, Turkish-Indian Cooperation Platform held its first meeting, under the partnership of DEİK/TOBB and FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry). The meeting was hosted by Turkish-Indian Business Council Counter Party Chairman and GMR Group’s Corporate and International Business Group Head Mr. G.B.S. Raju. During the first part of the meeting, sessions were held concerning the industries, which are deemed prominent for cooperation by the Platform. In the second part of the meeting, the institutions representing the business world, ministers and our President Mr. Gül delivered speeches. A Cooperation Agreement was signed between FICCI and TOBB with regard to the Establishment of a Regional Study Committee under the body of Turkish-Indian Business Council and for Supporting Cooperation in Third Countries. After the signing of the agreement, bilateral business meetings were held, simultaneously with the two Round Table Meetings held on Cooperation Opportunities in the field of Cinema&TV and Industry and Technology, with the participation of industry representatives, specialist institutions and public-ministry officers.
On the day of February 13, Turkish Delegation headed for Bangladesh. A Study Breakfast was held with the participation of President Abdullah Gül, under the cooperation of FBCCI-Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Following the speeches delivered by the institutions representing the business world, ministers and our President Gül, Turkish-Bangladesh Business Forum was held. During the Forum, presentations were made about the two countries, emphasizing the investment and cooperation opportunities, and bilateral business meetings were held on industry basis.
