Genpa is the Golden Sponsor of 9th Turkish Olympiads where one thousand young people from 130 countries in Asia, Europe, Americas and Africa meet.
The organization which took off with a magnificent show in Dolmabahce Palace on June 15 will end on June 30, 2011.
Dr. Zeynel Abidin Erdem, the Chairman of Genpa’s Board of Directors, stated the following about the organization: “We support a very justified organization. While we are trying our best to trade with the USA, the fact that these schools offer a curriculum in Turkish is an evidence that we are on a path to illumination. This initiative started by the Reverend Fethullah Gulen and the fact that hundreds of schools are actively present in hundreds of countries are really important. These children will enter into commercial and political relations with our country in future. We have been supporting this organization which is very highly justified since its inception”
Mr. Mehmet Ali Sahin, the Turkish Parliament speaker, delivered a speech in the event, stating that those young people who attend the Olympiads will climb up the ladders in their own countries to reach highly valuable positions and will shape up the future of the world. Ms. Nimet Cubukcu, the Ministry of National Education, said that in the present times when the world is almost drowned with blood and riots, those children who compete with the language of love and peace made her excited. Afterwards, children sang songs and recited poems before an enraptured audience. The opening event was a flamboyant show, entertaining many celebrities from the show world, political arena and business world. When children coming from all around the world sang Turkish songs and recited Turkish poems, the audience was choking in emotion.
OBJECTIVE OF OLYMPIADS
Language is a tool that allows people to understand and get warmth to each other. In this age of communication, people from different cultures understand each other by means of language. Relations between Turkey and global countries are indicators that thousands of students learning English will elevate our language to a level it deserves well. Turkish Olympiads is a culmination of efforts to elevate Turkish language to a position it deserves well and to make sure that it is spoken more commonly. Olympiads organized since 2003 to reward Turkish learners have so far raised a huge interest towards Turkish language. Turkish Olympiads are rather final games and competitors excel over many stages before they come that far. Competitors first pass classroom eliminations followed by school and country eliminations. Throughout an academic year, almost 10,000 people get prepared for Olympiads. Students eligible to compete in final games in Turkey tell about their countries by means of stands advertising their countries in Turkish, contributing to the interaction of cultures with each other. In the award ceremony of Olympiads which has now become a traditional event, special service awards are given to senior statesmen, politicians, press institutions and education and art community who serve Turkish language and culture.

“Come on and let us be friends” Istanbul whose every corner is full of history will host another historic night.
Not that much time has remained until the evening of June 15, Wednesday. Try to imagine the Opening Ceremony of 9th International Turkish Olympiads in Dolmabahce Palace. The night’s slogan is very emotional: “Come on and let us be friends...”Representatives from 130 countries will meet and every one of them will speak Turkish in his or her own accent. But the words to be spoken will deal with love, peace and brotherhood.
God bless him who had conceived and helped this big project become real nine years ago. It is an outstanding idea. Children in 130 countries around the world speak Turkish. Those children will grow and do whatever business they would like to do in Turkey. I read its commercial aspect in our newspaper yesterday and I was extremely happy. Those people who speak Turkish know, have faith in, and trust us better than ourselves. If Turkish friends around the world increased in recent times, these Olympiads are the secret.
This is one way to set up the alliance of civilizations. But now those who object to this, stop a minute and check archives. Let them look at Turkey following Cyprus Peace Operation. All nations had imposed an embargo against us, leaving us alone. There was not a single nation who wanted to help Turkish people. Guess who these countries are...
I am sure that those well-respected people who will attend 9th International Turkish Olympiads will enjoy a magnificent night in Dolmabahce Palace. What’s more, this will be the most spectacular night of recent times. God help Prof. Dr. Mehmet Saglam, the chairman of the night’s organization committee. Let’s set aside those representatives from 130 countries. What about our guests from our side who will attend the organization? What about their psychologies and inner worlds...? Where will they go that night....Is there anyone who celebrates the results of the election? Is there anyone who is surprised at the results, who feels a little bit hurt? Anyone who is offended? But I am sure that many notable figures from Turkey will meet at Dolmabahce Palace.
