In the business world besides companies which grow overnight, there are those which grow gradually but with sound steps. The light for those companies which grow very rapidly is likely to soon die away.

Dr. Zeynel Abidin ERDEM presented a famous work of art to Prince of Wales in Mardin.

The Chairman of Erdem Holding and the Honorary President of TABA AmCham- Turkish American Business Association has accompanied Prince of Wales during his visit to Mardin. He presented a famous painting to Prince Charles as a remembrance of Mardin.

Dr. Erdem said: “We are here to witness a matchless life, where 7 languages were spoken, 7 religions were adopted and 7 different cultures were mixed in 7000 years.

Mardin is a world city, which opened its doors to various civilizations, ethnic groups and sects, as it has been the intersection of cultures throughout the history. Our city has a unique position in the world due to its inhabitants that have been living together with tolerance, love and respect for thousands of years accepting all these differences.”

Prince Charles visited the 535-year-old Kasimiye madrasah (Muslim religious academy), the fifth century Syrian Orthodox Kirklar church and the 690-year-old Latifiye mosque, the spectacular Deyrulzafaran monastery, which dates back to the fifth century and for hundreds of years housed the patriarchate of the Syrian Orthodox Church, one of the world's oldest Christian denominations.

He met religious leaders at the monastery, where he was presented with a manuscript Bible.

Prince Charles also held talked with local officials and representatives of non-governmental organizations to discuss the city's restoration efforts.

Mardin, an ethnically diverse, 7,000-year-old city of imposing stone architecture, perched on a craggy hill overlooking the Mesopotamian plain, has so far failed in its long-standing effort to get on UNESCO's list of World Heritage sites.

After his city tour, Prince Charles left for Jordan, the last stop of a nine-day, three-country swing which also took him to Italy.
