GREAT MEETING IN MARDİN
The blood feud, started with the death of 2 people between families Boran and Ayaz in MARDİN, Savur 36 years ago, was over with the attempt of Dr.Zeynel Abidin Erdem, who is a businessman from Savur.
THERE IS COMFORT AND PEACE
Faruk Mangırıcı, Star columnist, attended to the peace meal in Savur, and he had an interview with families who were angry with each other and with Erdem , who was the işin mimarı. THE BUSSINESS MAN FROM MARDİN STOPPED THE BLOOD FEUD
The blood-feud, started with the death of 2 people between families Boran and Ayaz in MARDİN Savur 36 years ago, was over with the attempt of Dr.Zeynel Abidin Erdem, who is a businessman from Savur.
SAVUR is a district of with 3 thousand population even though it has been written as 7 thousand 800 at the signboard of Mardin. Boran and Ayaz families are the two big families of Savur. These two families are effective on both trade and also politics... the two families, who are dominate the district and disposed of with each other for years in order to fertilize, quarreled in 1968 even never mend a friendship.
FIRE OFF TO THE AIR...
THE QUARREL was because of young lady, who left her home and came back to home of her parents during the period when former Mayor Halim Ayaz, father of current Mayor Eşref Ayaz. Mehmet Ayaz from Family Ayaz, drew his gun and hit Kaya. Necip Kaya, from Family Boran, was died. Occurrent came forth and blood interfered between Boran and Ayaz families. In time, there was an afraid of new murder each day in the district and Family Boran waited for revenge.
THE WORKSHOP WAS SHOOTED
WHILE the revenge date of Necip Kaya was waited in afraid, the tailor workshop of Kemal Ayaz from Family Ayaz was shot by unknown people. Ayaz saved his bacon by hiding behind the table. After a short period of time Burhan Boran from Family Boran was killed by unknown person or people. Ever since, new murders were waited any time in the district. This time Family Ayaz was watchfulness. That’s why; men of the families left Savur one by one. The cafes in the district were closed as nobody went.
BECAUSE of fear nobody sat in front of mosques in case there would be any assault happened. The tension became bigger in 1984. The dominance of Family Ayaz in the municipality passed to Family Boran in election of 1984. Hüsamettin Boran was elected as the Mayor.
THEY HAD DONE WITH TENSION
THEREFORE Family Boran became strong. The great of the region, governors, come to Mardin time to time, tried to reconcile the two families when they heard the events in Savur but they could not achieve success. The individuals of the two families never wanted to mend a friendship. For the last time businessman from Savur, Zeynel Abidin Erdem, who is the beloved person in Mardin, interfered in order to finalize the tension in the district. Erdem, Complimentary President of Turkish-American Businessmen Association, requested to finalize the unrest by gathering the great of the two families together. Essentially, the two families had done with resentment and tension, continued for 36 years. The peace as accepted ‘without provision'. The businessman Erdem organized a meal of 3 thousand people inside Savur Stadium in order to perform peace like a festival.
SNOW OPPOSITON ON THE MEAL...
BUSINESSMAN and politicians from Savur that are living in Ankara and İstanbul were invited to this meal. However, the snow, which has not been happened for 40 years in Mardin, obstructed peace meal. On Friday, the day of peace meal, snow and storm started. The guests of meal from Mardin and around cities could not reach to Savur. Savur citizens should have eaten the meal of 3 thousand by themselves.
2 PEOPLE DIED FOR NOTHING
NOWADAYS, in Savur the happiness of peace has been experienced after a 36-year of tension. Hüsamettin Boran, who immolated two victims from his family, on one hand has expressed his suffer on the other hand expressed his happiness: "Two people lost their life for nothing. We lived with fear for years. We always waited from where we were going to be shot on the street any time. Our children left Savur because of this fear. From now on, we have never wanted to loose peace." On the other hand, Eşref Ayaz , Mayor of Savur, has been suffered for the past years: "There was some times that we could not stayed at our homes. We could not come close to the windows in order not o be shot. There was no peace, there was not security. This is over now. We can go out with security, we will improve our relations. From now on, there will not be any unpleasantness..."
IT WAS ALL THE BEST...
ZEYNEL Abidin Erdem, the man of peace, is happy at least Families of Boran and Ayaz.Erdem, who stated,"There was not peace in the district. It was not clear when and what one would do. Both families are my relations. It was all the best. They accepted, now I am so happy ", thanked to Temel Koçaklar, Governor of Mardin for his contribution to the peace.
