Turkish Spanish Business Council
Turkish Spanish Business Council is established on 1989.
Dr. Zeynel Abidin ERDEM is the Chairman since 12 years.
Within the framework of the Business Council activities, annual joint meetings and a number of meetings with Spanish delegations visiting Turkey and Turkish delegations visiting Spain have been held. The activities of the Council gained momentum following the identification of Turkey as a target market by the Spanish government and the signature of Joint Action Plan between Turkey and Spain. The Council attaches great importance to the sectoral and regional meetings. It also gives support to the organization of trade and investment fairs in both countries.

Spanish Investments in Turkey
Construction materials, metal goods, foodstuffs, textile, trade, tourism and banking are major sectors where Spanish companies are active. Spain’s share is % 1.98 in total foreign capital in Turkey.
Spanish aviation company Casa and Turkish TAI are manufacturing together CN-235 aircrafts. Major Spanish companies operating in Turkey are Eliop (automatic control systems), Teka (furniture for kitchen), Roca (ceramic wear and tiles), Tecasa (heating systems), Fagor (industrial kitchens), Mac Puar (elevators), Manterol (blankets), Mango ve Zara (clothing), Dia, Grafusa and Agrucapers (foodstuffs), Ormazabal (electric industry), Miralbueno (automotive), Bamesa (metallurgy), Mapfre (insurance), Marksol, Iber Hotel International, Playa and Turespa (tourism)
Turkish Investments in Spain
BEKO Espana belonging to Koç Group, sells Beko products to Spain and Portugal. Sabancı Group, together with Spanish BMM has founded an export company and a cement storing and distribution installation in Sevilla. There is also a representation belonging to Sabancı Group operating in the field of polyester thread in Barcelona. Arçelik has acquired a plant to manufacture compressors for refrigerators in Basque region. A Turkish company is 98.7 % shareholder of Meditoliva Almar S.A. an oil olive plant in Sevilla. In addition, Nuh Cement, Spanish Cementes la Union and Internacional Cement Advisers have set up an installation for cement production in Tarragona.
As of the end of 2001 the registered Turkish investments in Spain reached a total capital of 394.818 USD and the number of Turkish companies was 4.
